Dr. Akindele Olupelumi Adebiyi  (MBChB, MPH,FMCPH, Cert Clin Epid) holds a fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College in Public Health (FMCPH).  He also holds an MPH in community medicine as well as a certificate in clinical epidemiology from the Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences. He is a lecturer in the department of Preventive Medicine and Primary Care and also collaborates with the Nigerian National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training in building capacity for health care workers in Tuberculosis control. Dr. Adebiyi is the coordinator of studies for Ibarapa programme; a university based programme that introduces medical and allied students to research and community health work.

He has consulted widely for WHO, UNICEF, NPHCDA, States and Federal Governments on health system issues and most especially integrated disease surveillance and response as well as pandemic preparedness. His previous work as a Medical Officer of Health at the Local Government level gives him a clear understanding of epidemiological surveillance and disease control issues within the Nigerian Health Systems. Currently, he is principal investigator for some novel collaborative studies and brings to the team his collaborations with international researchers. Dr. Adebiyi is the Secretary of the Epidemiological Society of Nigeria (EPiSON) and a member of the International Epidemiological Association (IEA). He has authored many publications in peer reviewed journals and mentors postgraduate students in infectious disease epidemiology.
