Dr. Benjamin Emikpe

Dr. Benjamin O. Emikpe: D.V.M. (1994), M.V. Sc Veterinary Pathology (2000), Ph.D (2009). Dr. Emikpe is a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology in the University of Ibadan with focus on Immunological techniques to the diagnosis of viral and bacterial diseases especially endemic and zoonotic livestock diseases. With 2005 University of Ibadan MacArthur staff development grant, he was trained in area of mucosal immunity, morphometry and immunohistochemistry in Prof. Zamri Saad's Laboratory, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia, to enhance his skills in field and laboratory diagnosis as regards evaluation of vaccine candidate biologicals, and in disease trace back and forward. He has vast experience in the laboratory diagnosis of several viral and bacterial diseases: Peste des petit ruminants, Pneumonic pasteurellosis, Salmonellosis, Infectious bursal disease, Chicken infectious anaemia, Rabies and Influenza. He was actively involved in the collection of field samples for avian influenza (AI) under the National AI active surveillance programme in 2007. He has about 80 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and refereed conference proceedings. He has supervised 20 D.V.M. projects, co-supervised 2 PhD and currently mentors 2 M.Sc and 3 Ph.D candidates.
