Dr. Simeon I.B. Cadmus, DVM (1992), MVPH (1997), PhD (2007). Dr Cadmus is one of the pioneer beneficiaries of the MacArthur Grant for staff development at the University of Ibadan in 2003. He was awarded the re-entry grant in 2006. Dr Cadmus is a Fogarty Fellow and currently utilizing a Fogarty in-country research seed grant. Since 2004, he has worked relentlessly in setting up the Tuberculosis Research Laboratory of the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine, University of Ibadan. The laboratory has ever since played a significant role in executing several collaborative researches which have culminated in providing information on the zoonotic transmission of tuberculosis in Nigeria. Dr Cadmus is a member of various societies namely, the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (IUATLD), International Epidemiological Association (IEA), International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID). Dr Cadmus has played key role in training and support of students (postgraduate and undergraduates) in research in the area of bacterial zoonoses (especially tuberculosis and brucellosis) and for young faculties. Dr Cadmus has established strong collaborations with senior scientists in Europe and America with novel publications chronicling the epidemiology of tuberculosis and brucellosis. He is currently the Unit Head for Public Health in the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine and also coordinates Meat Inspection Clinics for students training in the Department. Dr Cadmus thus brings more than 15 years of teaching and research experience into this project. His collaboration with scientists in the West will bring a lot of benefits to the project.
