Dr. Ademola J. Ajuwon: BSc Sociology (1984), MPH Health Promotion and Education (1990) PhD (2000). Dr. Ajuwon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Education, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, where he teaches health communication, ethics of public health research, and delivery of reproductive health services. Dr. Ajuwon’s areas of research interests are HIV/AIDS prevention among young persons, gender-based violence and capacity development on research ethics. He has been a member of the University of Ibadan/University College Hospital (UI/UCH) Ethics Review Committee since its creation in 2002. Dr. Ajuwon has won several fellowships and received grants from local and international organizations. In 1997, he was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies, University of California, San Francisco. In 2003, he was a post-doctoral fellow of the African Research Ethics Training program at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore USA. Dr. Ajuwon has consulted widely for many local and international organizations including the USAID, UNICEF, Africare, and Youth Employment Foundation and Association for Reproductive and Family Health and the Nigeria Business Coalition Against AIDS. Dr. Ajuwon has about 50 publications which have appeared in many learned journals including the African Journal of Reproductive Health, Reproductive Health Matters, BioMed Central Public Health, and AIDS and Behavior.
