The RIWA Mali Organizing Committee, with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Health, and the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene jointly host the 5th international conference on Rabies in West Africa (Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 October 2018). The event brings internationally renowned experts to present scientific and technical papers and to provide one-to-one advice and support for "creating One Health Action for stepwise elimination of rabies in West Africa by 2030: fostering enabling environment for rabies-free ECOWAS sub-region". The conference theme covers regional and global perspectives on human and animal rabies control; infrastructure for surveillance of rabies and rabies related viruses; the use of geographic informational systems in focusing rabies control; improving health outcomes and surveillance capacity building. Participants are drawn from Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, the Gambia, Senegal, East and Southern Africa, Europe, North America, the Pacific Rim, the West Indies and beyond.
